Music In Secondary Schools Trust – Helping to give students a start in artistic life and instill life skills of confidence and collaboration that will be so important for their future development.
The MiSST programme aims to, develop team-working skills, improve discipline and enrich the learning of students through the creativity of music. Launched in 2014, we are proud to have been selected as one of only 12 secondary schools in London to participate in this inspiring scheme. Our Year 7 students will receive an orchestral string instrument alongside compulsory musical education for three years, all free of charge. The programme looks to extend the musical capabilities of each student, developing their self-confidence and igniting a passion for Music and the Arts. Each student will be given the opportunity to regularly perform in a number of IAMS musical events, ensembles and orchestral groups, stimulating their learning and enabling them to showcase their musical talent to IAMS students, parents and staff. It is an exciting time for music this year at IAMS, with the launch of this initiative and our new Head of Creative Arts, enriching our place in the community as a centre of excellence for Arts and Media. We look forward to hearing lots of music being made in the school and seeing the students showing us their talents over the coming months.
